Local MP to host South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair at South Bristol Skills Academy

Bristol South MP Karin Smyth has teamed up with 麻豆射区, Bristol City Council, and the Department for Work and Pensions for the seventh annual South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair. 聽

The event will bring together a range of employers with vacancies and apprenticeships on offer, as well as organisations offering key employment advice.

Some of Bristol鈥檚 biggest employers will be present at the event looking to recruit apprentices and new staff, as well as key businesses from south Bristol.

Ms Smyth first started the annual event in 2017. Now in its seventh year, the fair has already helped hundreds of people locally find the right next step for them.

This year鈥檚 fair is taking place from 11am-2pm on Thursday 29 Feb at the South Bristol Skills Academy in Hengrove.

Karin Smyth, MP for Bristol South, said:

鈥淨uality apprenticeships and jobs have the power to transform lives, and I鈥檓 delighted to be organising another South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair this year.

鈥淧ost-16 options can be confusing for students and their families 鈥 this is your chance to look at all the options in one place鈥.

鈥淔or anyone looking to kickstart their career, choose the next step in their education, or simply find out the options open to them, the fair is the perfect opportunity to meet with local employers and organisations offering advice.鈥

Councillor Asher Craig, Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Children’s Services, Education and Equalities, said:

鈥淲e are proud to be partners of the annual South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair.

鈥淭his event is a collaborative effort, bringing together a diverse range of employers with exciting local vacancies and apprenticeships. Residents can also take advantage of the essential employment support and skills advice on offer.

鈥淲e are continuing to invest significantly in south Bristol, helping to build a city where nobody is left behind. With around 250 Bristol employers now paying the Living Wage, there are many incredible businesses in the south of our city ready to employ local talent. I encourage anyone interested to come along on 29th February and speak directly to the businesses who help make south Bristol such a vibrant place.鈥

Principal and Chief Executive Officer of 麻豆射区, Julia Gray, commented:

鈥淚 am delighted to welcome the South Bristol Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair for its seventh year to our South Bristol Skills Academy campus.

鈥淲e are incredibly proud to continue to work in strong partnership with Karin Smyth MP, Bristol City Council, The Department for Work and Pensions and other city partners to host the annual event at 麻豆射区.

鈥淭he collective partnership, led by Karin Smith MP, that brings this event to South Bristol each year provides our students, schools and the wider community with crucial access to local employers who are offering opportunities in a wide range of careers with hundreds of fantastic job vacancies and apprenticeships.鈥
